In the early 1900’s a French Army Captain was thrown from his horse and stricken with paralysis and blindness. All seemed hopeless until the Captain’s friends assisted him to unite his sufferings with those of Our Lord. To comfort the invalid, they collected consoling thoughts from the writings of St. Francis de Sales and St. Margaret Mary. The Captain soon grew in holiness and passed into eternity full of peace, resignation, and confidence. After the Captain’s death, the encouraging words and meditations from St. Francis de Sales and St. Margaret Mary were compiled in this book as a source of consolation and comfort for other souls.
